I found it fascinating the way the flowers on this particular plant always seemed to be in a straight line. I was hoping to get the flowers in the forefront in focus with it generally going out of focus the further back it went. I think my little compact digital didn't do a bad job...

Excellent image with defocus creaping in there rather well
its quite hard to defocus on a compact as the sensor is small.
In terms of crtitique, the image is too wide for me, i also wonder if you could have got closer and lower to compress the flowers closer together and further excentuate the defocus. This might not have worked if the min focus distance is reached, also the open bloom might be hidden if you get too low. I tried to show this with a mod.
I love these plants so thanks for sharing.
Hi Colleen,
Not a bad result considering the tools!
I'm inclined to agree with Stuart re. the crop though as I find the areas of green either side are somewhat wasted. This way your eye is drawn straight to the flowers cascading upwards. (Can they cascade upwards?)
I've uploaded a similar(ish) crop. and just used autotone and autocolour in CS5. I've also USMed it. Amount 50%, radius 0.5px. and a threshold of 8.
Hope it's OK.
See Ya!
Bren.
Edit; I really don't like borders at all, especialy at this size and I think this border's really too heavy for this shot. I think you'd have been better off with something much paler and thinner. Include the title on the outside of the border, if at all.
