This photograph was taken around sunset looking across Liverpool's Salthouse Dock.
There had been torrential rain during the evening and for the previous few days and parts of Merseyside had flooded. I was already soaking wet so I decided to stay out in the hope that the rain would eventually stop.
As the worst of the rain passed overhead the sky was illuminated by the setting sun. It looked almost as though the city was on fire and for a few minutes the relentless wind eased off, allowing me to capture the reflections in the dock.
I had to keep drying raindrops from the filter I was using to prevent them from ruining the shot but I am so glad that I stayed out instead of going in to get dry!
