I prefer your earlier picture Alison, the colours here make for a strange surreal image and I do prefer the Mersey as a foreground to the sand at New Brighton, even though the anglers do add a pleasing dimension. (not sure there is this much sand anywhere else on the east coast of Wirral?) You are showing a super sky here and are correct to accentuate it.
Time was when Liverpool's waterfront was just 'The Three Graces' with the pilotage house a little bit south, all could be easily fitted into a frame with a nice tight well balanced image. Now the watrfront stretches for so along, both north and south, that we end up with these long panoramic images instead and it makes balancing an image a bit more difficult.
You have shown here the full extent, we can still recognise 'The Graces' and the anglican cathedral, but they are fast being engulfed by modern architecture. I am sure you will continue to play with the original and will end up with a cracker.

Thanks for the comments, I like this composition compared to the other, and I do like to mess with my pictures, always trying to get a good one
I think the main problem was it was getting overcast and dull and i tried to lighten up the picture, but struggled to do so
maybe I will get there again but in the morning and not at 3.45 when its starting to go dull ![]()
