Tynemouth Lighthouse, River Tyne North Pier.
Located at the end of the River Tyne North Pier Tynemouth the Lighthouse was built in 1903.
The lighthouse is operational and is used by ships approaching and entering the River Tyne along with South Shields Lighthouse, Herd Groyne and North Shields Lighthouses.
On a calm fine day the pier is a a pleasant place to walk along to the lighthouse, but in windy weather and high tide the waves can break as high as the lighthouse. In these conditions the pier is closed.

A very strong composition here John - looks good in mono ![]()

Excellent use of the wide angle in portrait mode to get a fantastic perspective, John.

Superb lines, John. Using the extreme wide angle pointed slightly down has exaggerated the perspective most pleasingly, emphasising the bulk and length of the sea wall. There is an excellent sky to cap it off, and of course the mono is excellent too.

Bill
Strong lines, including in the sky. And very creative use of portrait + wide angle. I'm used to seeing this from the other side of the river, must investigate some time.

Looks like the pier goes on forever!
A great viewpoint and capture, John, and well suited to the mono treatment ![]()

Very nicely done, and I like the way the clouds are echoing the shape of the pier and yet going horizonally.
As others have already observed, great composition and it makes a very effective mono image. How very thoughtful of those clouds to echo the shape of the pier - a chance in a million.
Very well thought out, John. Brilliant idea to use the wide angle this way...gives me some thoughts on re-visiting a couple of locations here.![]()
B&W is always a winner as far as I am concerned. This is particularly suited.

only too happy to take this to RC....
Strangely I find it very phallic...
