I'd originally overlooked this image in favour of the original 'Lost' image (see my PF) and it had never even been processed but looking back at my images from this trip and reminiscing today I realised it deserved a place in my portfolio.

Shot around 60 miles off the coast Svalbard in the high arctic. The Cubs are around 6 months old and face an uncertain future in a word that is fast changing around them. LOST?

LARGE SHOULD HAVE A LOT MORE DETAIL

Thanks for Looking

I think this shot is fantastic. Not only does it have good quality photography but it also highlights the issues that animals have with global warming as well.

Great shot.

The positioning of the bears on the ice berg, drifting, emphasises the feeling of uncertainty and lost so much!

Pretty emotional picture, definitely a 'to die for' photo (no pun intended)

They dont come better than this, and it just go's to show you dont need the top of the range Canon or Nikon. Perfect lighting, perfect positioning, Its also being in the right place at the right time. Give National geographic a call this is the sort of photograph they like to have. If you can drop me a e-mail so I can keep in touch as its always nice to know where to get hold of you if I ever need this photo for a gallery showing. rseager@unsceneimages.com

This is an outstanding capture that shows the plight of these magnificent animals so well. Love the 3 differnt aspects of position and direction they are looking in. The reflections are just superb in such clear and calm water as well. The only thing I might have done is to crop a little off the left and also are the 2 pieces in the top ice as well as they had me looking at them but there again so was the adult PB.
Absolutely awesome capture, this should be hanging as a winner in the Natural History Museum, for WPOTY

Lost indeed, lets hope not for ever!
Magnificent image.
The way the mother is looking as if trying to decide where to go next, the cub sitting upright with quiet resignation to its fate and the mischeivous cub looking at its own reflection make this a very thought provoking image.

This really conveys the feeling of being lost. Although the three bears are together, they are each looking in totally different directions as if to say 'where do we go from here'. A sad fact about the evolution of Planet Earth and man's intervention.

A truly moving image.
