Loudon Wainwright III in my opinion is one of the best song writers there is; his songs are intelligent and funny covering many aspects of life but family life in particular. He is also a great performer and is able to entertain an audience with nothing but an acoustic guitar and of course his presence.

I went to see him at the Millennium Theatre in Limerick last Saturday night. During his performance, he told the audience that he was pretty sure that it was at a concert in Limerick about 25 years ago that some drunk in the audience who knew all the words of all his songs kept singing along at the top of his voice and despite being asked to stop he kept it up until some woman in the audience clobbered him with a handbag. A guy in the audience on Saturday night shouted back that it was Limerick, 30 years ago in the Savoy, and the guy's name was ...! The audience cracked up laughing. I don't know if ... was in the audience on Saturday or not but if he was he must have been mortally embarrassed.

All these shots were taken at ISO 3200.

Excellent John.

I'm jealous now as I had tickets for last Saturday in Dublin and was too ill to attend. Had the camera all set up and all. Came out fab for 3200 asa, never used that myself, must give it a go.

Always go to see him when he's here, one the best and most entertaining around.

and Mama likes her white wine....

T.

Ps Post a full size shot please.

Tommie - You're a true fan!! Good job they weren't drinking the red and you know what I mean. And I can vouch for the fact that you weren't the drunk in the audience 30 years ago!!! Thanks for the comment. Also, what do you mean by post a full size shot? One of them on their own rather than in a montage? John

Great montage, John. Can't claim to know his music, but he looks very entertaining. I must check him out. His son(?) Rufus was on Jonathon Ross on Friday - very gay, but has a great voice and it sounds as though the family's musical influence stretches far and wide.

Hi Mr H. Saw this when you first posted it but didn't get round to commenting. Seeing his son, Rufus, on the box over the weekend reminded me. Good shots all, and very well presented. Brings to mind Ollie's Lambchop montage.

You have produced a superb piece of art here. This is good enough to be used as a promotion poster.
This guy (Mr. Wainwright ) is an absolute geneus. He has written some great songs in his days. His CD History is very frequently in my HI-fi.

Good compilation John. I like him too, - and his son Rufus, and daughter Martha are also terrific in different ways.

I love the spirit of involvement here, good range of expressions you've managed to capture, looks like he's enjoying himself. I imagine you did too, great set...
