Elder son of Henry Tudor, brother of Henry V111, Prince Arthur died at Ludlow Castle on April 2nd, 1502. He had been staying there with his new wife, Catherine of Aragon on honeymoon. Prince Arthur's heart was buried at Ludlow. His wife returned to London where she later became the first of Henry V111's six wives. Her divorce from Henry sparked the English split from Rome and launched the turbulent years of the Reformation.
Ludlow Castle is situated in the Marches of Wales. Ludlow is one of the most important castles of the area and was the main stronghold of the Earls of March. Although most of the castle is now in ruin, there is much that can be explored. Ludlow Castle is situated at the nort-east corner of the town on a rocky outcrop that overlooks the river Teme. To the east and south of the castle would have been a ditch but this has been filled in.

Superbly composed shot - Jude.

I like this direction of the image. You have captured a good deal of the history inside the bricks with your narrative. This is why the UK is so famous to us Americans. =o)

Good one! Jenn

Like the way this shot has been constructed using three levels. The water, bridge, and castle on top. Enjoyed this take on the castle and surrounding area very much. I think when pictures like this are bordering between pictorial and record work that a good SP (as provided in this shot) works a treat. Enjoyed very much.

Dave.
