We came across this rabbit on Stanpit Marsh yesterday. It gave me a chance to practise my "I'm a tree" impressions as I tried to sneak up on it.

This is about 50% of full frame - so I didn't get as close as I wanted Smile

The detail is not bad though and I liked the fact that although it was keeping an eye on me it didn't stop feeding.

very nice Brian, love the limited d.o.f, makes the bunny stand out in it's surroundings.

The catchlight and DOF work really well and I've never gotten so close to a wild rabbit!

Nice one Brian.

We have a few not too far from me, but just haven't had a chance to get close. They are on a busy main road, no footpath and no where near to park the car. So until I feel like trekking along the main road with camera and lens it will have to wait.

The numbers of wild rabbits around us has dropped dramatically and it's hard to see one let alone photograph. A really lovely image with loads of detail.

Thanks for all the comments folks, much appreciated.

Jon, I must confess I tend to agree with your dog Smile

Ade - between us we could be a "Thicket"? Smile Could be an interesting subject for a silly thread, "What kind of Tree are you?" I think I would have to be a Crack Willow, I like my feet in the water, I've grown a strange shape and bits fall off unexpectedly

Denise - we still have loads of rabbits around here and, I think, not much myxamitosis. This one had her baby with her, small and cute and fluffy and much too interested in what I was doing to survive long - unless its lucky.

A nicely detailed shot Brian, I know how hard they are to approach, I normally see the white cotton-tails bobbing off lol.

Great shot, super detail - you can see the fleas on its ears!
Counted 29 adult rabbits on one 2 acre field this evening... If anyone wants to come and shoot rabbits here they are very welcome (no, not with a camera!)

Thanks Fran & Kathy.

Kathy - too much information! Smile (I thought they may be ear-mites but I am sure that you are right - poor bunny). They aren't a farmers friend are they - but they do taste lovely in the pot.

Lol - I spent most of the evening stalking rabbits - clearly you have more patience and look more tree like than me!

This is a great capture - excellent detail. One to be proud of.

Thanks Edward - I suspect there may have been an hallucinogen in the weed the rabbit was eating Smile
