Lady in Edwardian garb at Dunham Massey, Cheshire

like the mono treatment and the toning
This works very well, almost surreal.
Lovely - great old feel to this.
The harsh light and hard contrast give this a very authentic feel Phil, coupled with your toning that is.
i agree with dave.. ( ooh errr! ) on this....
your toning is what gives it the authentic feel i reckon
Phil can you forgive me for being really honest and saying that this doesn't work visually for me? I have been trying to work out why, and I conclude that although the lady is sharp and the background not, the difference is not great enough bearing in mind the strong geometric shapes and contrast in the background. Your subject is in my eyes insufficiently differentiated from the background.
I wonder what would happen if she were in colour and the background in monotone - I've not tried that but I'm intrigued!
thanks for the honesty Mike...to be honest its not an image that does much for me either..lol...its one of those 'post when you've nothing else to post' shots..
My she must have been sweltering in that garb. Bless her. I could use some heat right now, its really starting to get cold here in Ireland. Take Care
nice, well composed but cud do with a bit of grittynes like noise in it.
well done ian
