Hi everyone, seems ages since I posted and visited your portfolio's but have been so busy getting our very large garden in shape and still have loads more to do ![]()
This is a Male Cirl Bunting which I got a couple of days ago, and although I feel it's a RECORD shot due to the very harsh sunlight coming from the left I thought it was still worth a viewing. Taken on the edge of the cliffs at 'Berry Head' Brixham, Devon on a very windy day too so I feel pleased to have got the shot at all. It's a new one for my PF and have been led to understand that their presence is restricted to this area of Devon only. The Cirl Bunting is like a small Yellowhammer, 15-16.5 cm in length with a thick seed-eater's bill. The male has a bright yellow head, with a black eyestripe and throat, and a greenish breast band across its otherwise yellow underparts, and a heavily streaked brown back. The female is much more like the Yellowhammer, but has a streaked grey-brown rump and chestnut shoulders. Hope some of you will like him and will now make an effort to try and catch up with you all during the next day or so. Thank you all for your votes and comments on my 'Red Squirrel', so much appreciated as always, LARGE VIEW is much better for the detail,
Regards,
Geoff.

A fine shot Geoff, I like the way he stands out against that clear blue sky
Lovely detailed image Geoff, Havent clicked myself for a while but just about managing to catch up.
Chris
Well caught, I managed a snatch shot the other day at the same spot. I'm informed by the rangers that they are quite active at dawn but I can't stir myself that early! Sylvia

Hi Sylvia, I got this at about 6.30 pm so they are around later on too, they don't stay around for long though, maybe all of 2 seconds ![]()
