I took this shot one cold February day after watching some of the Slimbridge ducks walk around on a frozen lake. I followed a pair of shelduck for a while before this one began to touch his beak to the ice. I was sure from the symmetry created and the matching colour of his plumage with the reflected branches, that I would keep this shot - a decision I normally leave until I get home...
