This is a photo of one of the old busses that was used in malta since the 1930's, the only difference over the years was the colour change, they were taken off the road on 3rd july 2011 to be replaced by arriva bus company, many travellers went to malta to see the old transport in operation, a shame to see them go.

Thats a blast from the past! Used to get one of these from Floriana to Selina back in the 70's! Not sure the colour has changed since then! Always remember it was like getting into a shrine with pictures of Saints and rosary beads hanging from the mirror. Happy Days!

I was in Malta about 6 weeks ago -- Loved them ---did most of the island on these buses, i dont think there are two the same style --some had just string attached to a bell that you pulled to tell the driver to stop --different world or what --- i was told all the buses were owned by the driver who pooled their money at the end of the week then shared it out evenly --think they will be a sad loss and tourist attraction --whether the locals will think the same i'm not sure

I was on the one shown on the 2nd july in mdina, when they brought the new one's in the drivers went on strike, the company had to get 28 drivers from the uk to keep them going, you could get to a place but could not get back as the drivers were getting lost.
