Well, after a good result at the Camera Club, I got a UA from Lillian for my last upload, ‘Whitby by Night’. Thanks again, Lillian – I’m doubly chuffed now!
Had a trip out to the small resort of Sandsend, some 2¼ miles up the coast from Whitby as the crow flies (or should that be seagull?). Inspired by LeighRebecca’s images of the groynes at Sandsend, tried to get something at least half decent from here. Don’t think she’ll have to fear of any competition from me, though! Whilst waving the camera about trying to get composed, I spotted the man stood up in the boat, chatting on his mobile.
Looks a little better seen large if you have the time...might even hear him chatting...
1/80 sec, F11, 55mm, ISO 100
Single Raw image processed in Adobe Camera Raw, tweaked in Elements 6, with some assistance from Topaz Adjust.
Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

He was callling his wife to get down to the chippy because the fish weren't biting . . . . or calling the fish to tell them to get a move on . . . (101 Uses for a Mobile Phone, numbers 77 & 93) ![]()
Good composition using the abandoned groyne to divide the canvas in two. Keeps the subject apart from the texture study.

A big smile with the title .. But yes he looks like he is when viewed large
This is a great composition ,,, but I also would like to see it cropped at the horizon as well ...it would get rid of those 2 boats and i think also emphsise the title
just a thought
The boat really fills in that bit of empty sea, now it I have stood up a boat I would fallen in LOL

This has a sort of implied Z-shape - the boat, the groynes and the rock. Rather satisfying.
Moira
good composition - I would be afraid the boat might tip and then I would fall in
Well spotted Trevor, very amusing.
Viewed large you can just hear him.....HELLO, what. I'M IN A BOAT...
Regards
David
Love some of the comments about the man on a mobile in charge of a boat....is that legal?
