Considering my neighbour only bought this padlock a week before I took this shot,(about two weeks ago),I thought the rust was settling in nicely already.I returned today expecting to see more rust for a fresh shot, but he had cleaned all the rust off it !!

Is your neighbour making some sort of statement about your penchant for photographing rust, Mick?
What a spoilsport!
Your neighbour is a cheeky sod. I bet he cleans the rust of when he sees you coming out with the camera. Try a false beard ![]()
As it has rained another 5 inches today (including hailstorms) I am very optimistic regarding future rust, Will take your hint.
We live in a throw away society Mick - perhaps he thought he was preserving the lock by doing this - at least he hadn't replaced it by another pristine lock - still, you got a tad of red here and there on it, so that's not so bad. ![]()

He knew what you were upto Mick and is determind to keep the rust at bay

I'm somewhat surprised that this shot obtains so much pristine metal. Nice POV and imposition though.
Now this IS up close and personal! Great shot!
Carol
Super image Mick, I love the pov and composition, pity your neighbour has cleaned off the rust though ![]()
Hugh
Your neighbours really have no consideration of your needs, do they, Mick?
They have merely left you a few grot-spots.
Excellent focus, depth and composition, even though you're more interested in decomposition ![]()
Nice one.
Regards
Bill
I think most of the above people forgot to mention
the planning that went into this
the excellent composition
waiting for just the perfect light
Your depth of field for clarity
Your mixing and blending of colour
In truth an outstanding image of the highest quality which would not surprise me if it was awarded the editors choice.
Well, how inconsiderate of him cleaning the rust off!
At least you got a good shot of it before he got at it! ![]()

Ha ha, what an inconsiderate Neighbour you have Mick. But a great larger than large shot here anyway. Might be worth returning when He gets fed up with cleaning it ![]()

It's the Mikbee effect. You only have to look at metal and it rusts for you...
Moira
The tightwad buys cheap tat and it begins to rust immediately. Good of him to (unwittingly) support your habit, Mick. Had he bought qwuality you would have been waiting years for the first signs of "patina".
Malc
Super close up.. With pin sharp detailing.. One of your best..
Nice'n shiny and a bit of rust - you mastered it well. ![]()
Johanna
Nice shot Mick... but how very inconsiderate of your neighbour! ![]()
Rick
With all this wet weather we've been having I'm sure you will not have to wait too long for it to gather some more rust!![]()
