Joining in the fun idea that Pareen started where members post an old picture of themselves circa 1970s.
This one was taken in my early days of photography around 1974. I used my brother's Pentax Spotmatic S1a and it was mounted on a tripod. Self-timer shot in the back garden of my parents council house in Wisewood. I developed the film. The jumper was knitted by my mum, the iron milk bottle holder on the wall was made by my mum, I was made by my mum.
I thought I was cool with the five shilling shades. Looking back now makes me appreciate the private yacht, Ferrari, helicopter and penthouse apartment in Manton.

Nice one Pete... think you should have turned around and put those glasses in the bin though. Oh so nice to see a proper bin again
I haven't had the guts to put mine up yet
Dave
Definitely points for the write-up ![]()

you forgot to mention the hair ![]()
God bless pareen! You have a very nicely home-knitted look, thanks for sharing in the general silliness.
Moira
This has been a fine challenge, and a wonderful look into the past. I like this, the homey and grittiness of it.
Cool shades Pete
Nice hair too.
I was about 6 months old id say when this was taken, must look for a suitable pic to post. ![]()

This is becoming infectious! 'spose I'll have to dig out a 'Me in 73' or 'I was alive in 75' oldie now. Cool shades Pete, not too sure about the chequered Colorama back drop though!
Andrew
HAH! me and another epz'r were talking about doing something like this the other day ![]()
Hmmm the 70s ouch this could be rough...denim suits and bad hair. ![]()
You were some cool dude in those days Pete.
Dig the crazy hair style.
Hilary

I am trying to look at them all

I think you look more like Jon Bon Jovi!!!
He tends not to wear knitted jumpers tho' (and has a bit more cash, methinks!) ![]()
I remember me ma having a towel like that too...but n the flip side wouldnt you trade the yacht and ferrari to be able to still flip your hair in the wonderful "do" hehehe! Great Photo..!!!
That's the sort of picture that gets top awards nowadays ![]()
Love the shades - guess it's up into the loft to see what I can find.
Merl
PS. would have been nice to see all these golden oldies in one place, like on the chellenges.
Pete, you look so cool that there that you could fart ice cubes!!!

Excellent shot and bags of attitude sitting there by the dustbin and under the laundry ![]()
Reminds me more of a young Kevin Bacon
Tim
Pete, you're being modest. Surely this was taken by Patrick Lichfield?
Too scared to dig out a younger shot of myself as I was (still not) as COOL as the dude here.
When exactly did moms stop knitting all the jumpers. As for the ironwork ...thats a new one on me.
Nice one.
Keith
LOL, love the sentiments, both you, jumper and the milk bottle holder-made by your Mum!...jojo
I love this shot, Pete. Pareen really started a fun thread.
By the way -- you asked if we would be interested in a new category on ePhotozine for vintage/historical photos. I LOVE looking at stuff like that.
However, there already are so many sources for viewing historical photos that maybe a better idea is just to provide the links to vintage photos and generally restrict the ePz postings (with rare exceptions) to photos shot by members.
I'll start the ball rolling. Here is a link from the US Library of Congress. They are moving a lot of their best stuff to FLICKr.
