This is Megan, who I photographed recently for her Mum.
I used a speedlight fired through a white brolly to my right to light Megan.
A second speedlight fitted with a red filter was used to light the portable black background.

I have to agree with lex, the highlights are a bit hot, there is no detail ( at this size anyway) in the skin at all on the right hand side.
It that was your intention, fine.
She seems to have a bit of a bump on her forehead on the left hand side. I think I would have lit this so it didnt show.
There is some unfortunate shadowing/bright spots ( by the corner of her mouth ) on the skin on the left hand side. I find this a bit distracting.
The hands (especially the right one) are a little bright for my liking as they pull attention away from the face.
The lighting is quite unbalanced, I have to say when I look at the eyes, the right one looks much more flattering.
I like the red and the way it contrasts very nicely with her eyes, the only other colour really. I also like the strong eye contact.
I've saved this image to my laptop and opened it up to check the highlights and there is still no loss of detail, even after the image has been resized for uploading. To say there's no detail in the skin at all is therefore a bit harsh!
I agree that the shadows around the mouth are distracting, so thanks for pointing this out.
The lighting is unbalanced because I wanted to create some soft shadows, rather than having a shadow-less image.
