Not much survives of Mr Dawes time in war. A pair of battered field glasses, dog tags, his bible and prayer book, issue compass, three bullets he had in his pocket when he got back home, registration card, a photo he had taken for his mother, the medals they sent to him in the post when the war was over and a newspaper that had once lined the bottom drawer of the wardrobe for years and of course the Kodak Autograph Vest Pocket Camera that his Father had taken to war before him.

I like this - the attention to detail is very good, and there are a lot of bits that keep one's attention. Nice placement of items creating diagonals in the compo. Nostalgia: worn field glasses, the three bullets, the dog tags, and the photo of Mr. Dawes which ties it all together.

I had a parent in the war, so this also speaks somewhat to me on a personal level.

Works for me Keith

I would question the bullets though - they do not look like the standard 303 issue to the ranksWink

They are not 303 but 9mm as used in this case in a Luger.

However it's not proving to be a popular image as over 30 people have viewed it. It means nothing in the real world but interesting all the same.

Love it ...for me it tells of history that I find myself absorbed in....to top it all the intrigue is further enhanced with comment about the bullets....brilliant.
