A photo taken of my Grandad Norman who was 90 this week. Having lived to such an age means having lots to look back on which I tried to get across in this shot.

You have really managed to capture an emotion here. A bonus is also that we can see a hint of the photograph he is looking at - which in my mind is of him and a wife who has passed away.

To my taste I would have pulled the blacks in a little but on the other hand this phot suits a set of softer gray tones.

Thank you for your comments and votes everyone.

Ellie - I also like the way you can see a hint of the photograph as it allows you to imagine in your own mind what he may be looking at and thinking of. I do have a version of this with the blacks pulled in and it was a toss up which one to post funnily enough! I can always add it to the versions if you like?

Thank you to Peter Bargh for my Highly Commended award - this is my first one since joining the site so I am really chuffed to have received it. Thank you Peter! Grin

I like all of them. He looks great for 90 years of age. =)

Yes Matt, please do! I didn't see until now that there are four images so my comment was for no 1 Smile

I love the poignancy of this, and my eye is drawn as much to the photograph as to the face. The emotion is tangible.
Glad to see an award, well done Smile
