Rigging of The Grand Turk.
Super detail, lovely composition. Really lovely image of an old "tall ship".
Nice one Eric.
A l'abordage moussaillons......larguer les amars et en route vers l'ile aux trsors....J'adore
I thought this may be yours Eric An excellent image. I particularly like the way you have kept the colour of the flags against the silhouette of the mast and rigging.
Lovely image, very interesting silhouette.
Super shot Eric, like the sun shining through the rigging and the flags. Regards Steve.
Where to go too? Just follow the lines.!!!
A Beauty, Eric.
Fantastic shot , great angle , well composed. Click
Wonderful angle and a fantastic shot Eric, very well done.
Great angle Eric lovely silhouttes and that flare is just in the right place.
All has been said, Eric. The silhouetted rigging lines just lead you right into the focus of the pic, and that flare is just exactly right!
I agree with Brian, like the way you've kept colour in the flags especially as they are so close to the sun. Nicely done.
Fantastic shot, great composition, keeping the colours in the flags was all important,a shot well executed, click.
I love this one Eric.
Great angle, great silhouette, and a great sky.
Very well taken.
Nice one Eric,
Really good placement of that sun, super exposure and "no orrible flare, just a touch of nice stuff". Very interesting shot
Claire prefers your version to mine so I am off to top myself....
She says she likes the sunburst effect you got. And wants to know why yours is bigger than mine. :0(
Very well taken Eric - caught all the elements.
Many thanks for all the good feedback folks.
...And tell Claire that yours is better, David, because it is symmetrical and shows nice detail in the mast and ropes, and because I said so.
Love that mess of ropes and composition. Well captured Eric.
Did you use any filters on this. I have been finding my skies a tad flat on the 300D?
Thanks Brian, no filters, just the UV skylight I always have on just to protect the lens. It was a good sky that day, just lucky - of course, the starburst has darkened everything a little also. I tend to switch to manual if I'm not satisfied with a sky, then underexpose by increasing shutter speed a click or two. If it darkens the rest of the picture too much, not to worry, that can be retrieved later in photoshop by selective use of levels, brightening, contrast, etc.
Nice perspective, great colour and the starburst really adds the finishing touch. I only hope I can use my 300D to such good effect when it comes tommorow (cant wait)*click*
Lovely composition, great sky, wonderful shot. Well done Eric. Click.
Good one. I like catching flares like this, but I often do it to the detriment of other parts of the photograph. Not so here.
Thanks Russell, Margaret and Malcolm. Good to hear from you all. Good luck with the new camera Russell.
Love the silhouette and sunburst effect...brilliant blue sky to top them off! click! =)
Another good use of a flare with a silhouette. I like how the only colour (apart from the sky) is found in the multicoloured flags.
This one too Eric... it's a really great looking image!
Thanks Sze, Tony and Rob, good to have your feedback.
Another cracking shot eric,i wish i could have been there.
Thanks Andy, good to have your comment.
Great one Eric. I like the silhouette of the masts and ropes against the sky and yet the colours in the flags. Great sun capture did you use a filter for the star effect?
Thanks Graham. No filters save the UV skylight I always have on, just for lens protection. It was the small aperture and getting the sun in the right position that produced the starburst effect.
Thanks Eric have to give it a try myself.
Nice rigging shot, i too like to crop in close, glen x
