Been laid up for the last week or so with flu–like symptoms suspiciously soon after receiving my flu jab (not a live vaccine so they tell me!), so my apologies for not keeping up with all your good work!

I felt I had spent enough time in bed, and set off to the edge of Dartmoor to get some Woodland shots in Carr Wood. Having done the complete 2 ¾ mile walk with no inspiration I headed off to Cadover Bridge to try and get some silky water shots as the conditions were overcast and perfect, but again didn’t even get my camera out of the bag.

Then I remembered that I had wished that I had my camera with me at Wembury Beach when I had been to a Family wedding near there recently. So off I headed, and this is one of the shots that I got. I did get more, but this one stood out when I was going through them.

The full title for the Mewstone is Great Mewstone Island which you can see on the horizon. It is an important site for cliff nesting seabirds.

I’ll attempt to click my way through the good stuff I’ve missed, there’s bound to be loads of ‘em, so please understand if I don’t comment!

Go on, Go LARGE!!!!!

11mm f/22 1/3 sec

P.S. 226 words, that’ll please Fran Wink

Great work as always Phil.
Glad your feeling better.
Strange thing, I developed illness after flu jab, took 5 weeks to completely clear, hope you have better luck than that.

Tremendous Paul, the shapes, tones and light really stand out.
This view is reminiscent for me as I was based at HMS Cambridge on the top of the hill overlooking this view. I spent 18 months based at the gunnery school there and this landscape of yours was a regular view for me. I was there 1984 to 1986, so I very much doubt its still operational or even standing, with MOD cutbacks etc.
Your right that surrounding coastline is spectacular with good lighting.

Thanks for the shot.

Hi Nick,

You're right it is closed now. Cambridge moved the NMT to HMS Raleigh where I have worked for the last 12 years now!

Thanks everyone, much appreciated!

I love the detail you have captured in the foreground, Paul, along with the subsurface detail. The superb sky just tops it off. Glad your up and about. Smile

LOL Paul, I stopped taking the free flu jab at work because I always came down with a heavy cold afterwards. Can't let anything interfere with the photography. Hope you're feeling better now.
