A great many thanks to all who commented / voted on my "Galleria" shot from yesterday; with a special 'thank you' going to Matthew (paskinmj) for his UA. I've only just picked this up since, as I explained to Matthew in a PM, shortly after I uploaded yesterday's image I was dragged by the ears by SWMBO away from EPZ to indulge in the far healthier activity of savouring the delights of the lovely East Lothian countryside (studiously avoiding the blight that is Torness, of course ......) on a most beautiful Autumn day, sans camera, natch. (She'd have brained me. Wink)

Today's offering shows one of the escalators that ferry travellers between the Metro and the splendour that is upper level Milano Centrale. The area at the top of the picture is the middle (entrance) level of the station, with a third level above which contains the main concourse and train platforms. The station has no definite architectural style, but is a blend of many different styles, especially Liberty and Art Deco. By any measure, it is a visual feast.

Italian lessons continue today under the ever-watchful eye of the Maltese dominatrix. Assuming I survive the inevitable spankings (I'm speaking metaphorically, of course Wink), I shall be back on EPZ tomorrow. Pray for my safe return.

Love the sweeping lines and the detail. And the lightness of touch. Very attractive image.

Somehow I would expect Milan's station to be a bit classier than our local halt... This reminds me of the older metro stations in St Petersburg, veritable cathedrals, though I guess the gods here are different ones. Love the use you have made of the elliptical curves.

Just love that offset oval as you have placed it.
The heads in winged helmets do suggest the influence of the Duce or at least his era.

The secret of language learning is in two parts: (a) staying alert, and (b) preparation. The latter, in the situation you describe, may be further divided into (i) learning your homework, and (ii) applying sufficient padding in the most sensitive areas. Parts (b(i)) and (b(ii)) are not mutually exclusive Wink

Quote: The heads in winged helmets do suggest the influence of the Duce or at least his era.

According to Wikipedia, work started on the station in 1912. Due to the Italian economic crisis during World War I, construction proceeded very slowly, and the project, rather simple at the beginning, kept changing and became more and more complex and majestic; never more so than when Benito Mussolini became Prime Minister, and wanted the station to represent the power of the fascist regime. The station wasn't completed until 1931.

Wonderful stuff, Bill - just the tonic I need before I enter the dominatrix's chamber ......

The diagonal, off-set oval is an excellent piece of composition, Bob, and the escalator pulls you straight through it assisted by the focal point pull of that time piece. Excellent work, and love the write up GrinGrin

Works well in mono Bob.
And yes,Torness is not on the list of ''must see Scottish attractions''
Although I only discovered recently it does have a nice little harbour nearby.
And off course when I say ''nice'',I mean nice and grotty !!

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and votes on today's upload. Two UAs in one day (many thanks, Rob and Nezih), let alone one for yesterday also, as noted above, is an honour, and so very much appreciated. Thank you all again: your interest in what I get up to on EPZ is never taken for granted. And I hope I give as much back.

Regards.

Fabulous composition and perspective Bob - those curves seem all-embracing and I can see you balancing on the handrail on the right to capture this. From your write up above you seem to be leading a very exciting life at the moment under the watchful eye of the two women you describe!! Keep it up!
