Another late afternoon shot of Bamburgh, trying for the 10 stop ND filter look this time. Not owning a 10 stop filter, I had heard here on the forums that the D300's multiple exposure facility could simulate the effect.

A 4 stop ND filter plus a C-pol gave an exposure was 5 seconds (f11, ISO 200). Multiple exposure mode set to 10 exposures with auto gain enabled gave an effective 50 second exposure. This combines up to 10 exposures into one raw file so you get the effect a 10 stop ND filter without the colour cast issues. Not exactly what Nikon intended it for, but it seems to suit this application well.

I've included the orignal colour version included as a variant for comparison.

Brilliant picture, I think I prefer the coloured one, but both great.
