From the New Year's Eve trip to the Peak District that I took with Mr Scholey. When we left Manchester it was a clear sky, by Ladybower it was starting to get misty, by Curbar (for a sunrise that never quite made it), the fog was up to the level of the top of the edge... So we had breakfast in Hathersage and decided to hit Mam Tor and see if it was clear at that end. Well, it was on top of the hill at least, and gave us some nice misty views to play with.

This cottage was just at the edge of the creeping mist and fog, but I quite like the plume of smoke from a factory or something in the valley behind.

The blue stripes across the top of the sky were there in the original, it seems to have been caused by the edges of thin clouds (well, I have no better explanation anyway Wink )

C&Cs welcome Smile

Excellent shot.
Ty

It almost looks like two separate photographs. I do like the low lying mist.

its very beautiful particularly the foreground, i think the smoke is from Hope cement works.
if i had known we would have been leaving weather like that behind we would never have gone up to Liverpool and stayed in the area you visited instead.
we couldnt see further than the end of the lens in Liverpool it was a dead loss.
regards,
Phil

Lovely shot, especially the f/g. A version, almost square format, losing the top third might be worth trying. Would concentrate the eye on the lovely mist, cottage & trees.

Ahh damn it, you beat me to posting shots of this cottage Smile

beautiful picture Smile

Very nice scene, cries out for a slightly tighter crop to draw the full attention onto the mist covered cottage down in that valley...
