I went to Derwentwater yesterday with the express intention of NOT doing another jetty shot (in fact most of my work that day did not include any jetties) however when I parked the car and walked past Ashness jetty I just couldn't resist. This was about 20 mins before sunrise and looked so beautiful that I just had to shoot it.
I've left most of the pre-dawn blue in as I think thats how it looked.
Hope you like.

Quote: Would be impossible to walk away from tis scene without a click on the shutter: so glad you stopped for this long exposure, capturing the cool of the morning in a beautifully composed image.
Ronnie.
A vision of haunting beauty, waiting to warm in the morning light.
Regards Nathan
Beautiful tones, Geoff, the jetty and posts just give that touch of hardness to the soft morning atmosphere. Excellent.

The others have said a lot of what I would have about the tones and the serenity but one of the things I really admire about this is the choice of viewpoint that differs from the usual we see of this lake. I vaguely wondered if the horizon might be better centered or even into the lower half of the frame but since I can't make my mind up it probably means I'm wrong! It's a stunning image ![]()

Lovely.Reminds me of the early mornings at Llangorse, going to have to get back there.
Tom.
Love the stillness and atmosphere - the stark black shapes silhouetted against the blue are lovely.
