This is Paul Wyatt, a member of the Modrapheniac Scooter Club, with his award winning custom Lambretta "Steptoe & Son."
I took the photo when visiting their recent rally in Wareham, Dorset.
Do you know where the name Lambretta comes from? From the name of the Milan suburb (Lambrate) where it was manufactured.
Sepia toning is just perfect for this beautifully captured piece of nostalgia.
Thanks luceombra, I can now show off my newly acquired knowledge to my friend, a scooter boy in his youth!
Hi Luceombra / Al ,... I never knew that!!
I went to the rally as I have old friends that are this time around born again scootersts..I had a few in my youth (I'm 44 now).
Must say it has made me want one again.
Hi Lynne, thankyou, I took it with a view to this site a month or two back..but then decided it didn;t really work.
However, as I;m off poorly from work today, I thought I'd play with the black & white & toning etc etc, and it seems to have turned out all right..thankyou
Great capture, I've never seen artwork like that on a scooter before, really interesting.
In the mid 80s, the art work used to be phenomenal on the custom scooters... with all the visible & a lot of the non visible metal being engraved gold plate!!!
Mytho Poiekon was one such, and spell boind another..they won all the awards in 1985.
Glad you liked it, if you check my pother photos there's a lambretta converted to a chopper.... in some style.
This takes me back,,,
me too Dan.... me too!! ............. I'm gutted I can;t afford another one..in the 80s you could pick them up all day long for £100-£300 ...now entry level is £1400 :-(
Thanks for the vote Dan.
Brilliant! but that Scooter isn't ready for anyones Scrap ~Yard yet.
Hey..thanks John.... stunner of a scooter isn't it!!
Has made me want to go out & get one again.
Never had a scooter, the art work is amazing on this, nice presentation.
the artwork is phenmomenal..hate to think what it would have cost!!

Was a bright summers day, so benefitted from losing the colour as was looking quite flat.
