...take away the colour and the mood and tones are left, and of course the weather, I think it suits this image right down to the ground.

A rather brilliant example of monochromatic landscape photography, which for me holds the secrets to a great photographs.

Sometimes there is a monochrome feeling about the weather

Suits the image right up to the sky, too......
I remain convinced that monochrome takes us to the heart of the matter more quickly than colour.

Interesting comparison. I've been back and looked at Summer weather alongside this, I do prefer the harmony of mono but the steely blue/grey cloud reflections in colour are so beautiful. I wonder how a tiny hint of blue toning would work in this?

It's not so often that I prefer a mono version to the coloured, but I agree with you that for this image it works brilliantly, Dougie.
Nice to see you back......I was wondering.......
Ronnie.

I'm fine Ronnie and even better after your UA, very kind mate.

I was away at friends in Fairlie and had a great couple of days. Talked my head off as did they, you wouldn't believe the stories we all recalled.

Thanks again Ronnie. GrinGrinGrin

Lovely mono Dougie and well processed. I particularly like that rasied tone on the Blackmount to give the image the layered effect.

I like the effect created here by the b&w convertion, Dougie. The water appears almost to be two separate lakes divided by the change of light in the middle. The (apparent) lack of any added filter effect makes for a very natural look, which is definately a plus.
