...take away the colour and the mood and tones are left, and of course the weather, I think it suits this image right down to the ground.
A rather brilliant example of monochromatic landscape photography, which for me holds the secrets to a great photographs.

Sometimes there is a monochrome feeling about the weather
Very nice landscape I like how the mono highlights different layers in the image, looks great!
Monochrome weather - that's exactly what it is sometimes but this weather looks a bit more fair! fabulous tones and textures Dougie.
yes ... I also love the mono tones
Suits the image right up to the sky, too......
I remain convinced that monochrome takes us to the heart of the matter more quickly than colour.
Interesting comparison. I've been back and looked at Summer weather alongside this, I do prefer the harmony of mono but the steely blue/grey cloud reflections in colour are so beautiful. I wonder how a tiny hint of blue toning would work in this?
It's not so often that I prefer a mono version to the coloured, but I agree with you that for this image it works brilliantly, Dougie.
Nice to see you back......I was wondering.......
I'm fine Ronnie and even better after your UA, very kind mate.
I was away at friends in Fairlie and had a great couple of days. Talked my head off as did they, you wouldn't believe the stories we all recalled.
Thanks again Ronnie.
Lovely mono with great detail - superb sky again
Beautiful Dougie love your work.
And I yours Janene I wish you could get more comments to make you feel more wanted on site.
Lovely mono Dougie and well processed. I particularly like that rasied tone on the Blackmount to give the image the layered effect.
I like the effect created here by the b&w convertion, Dougie. The water appears almost to be two separate lakes divided by the change of light in the middle. The (apparent) lack of any added filter effect makes for a very natural look, which is definately a plus.
Terrific shot Dougie !!!!......lovely quality, with a faultless Mono conversion....impressive !!
Cracking mono Dougie.
I liked the colour version of this but agree that this mono version works very well.
This works well in mono Dougie, allows you to push the contrast a bit more
good shot Dougie, nice bit of light in those clouds
Dark and moody Dougie - like it very much.
A bit like my mood tonight . Moira
Mono magic Dougie, conveys the mood.
Works very well in Mono Dougie.
