One of the most famous images of Rome is the Vittorio Emanuele Monument. The Vittoriano is built from white marble excavated from Brescia and is the flamboyant monument to the first King of Italy after the Unification of 1870. Begun in 1885 it was finished in 1911. On either side of the entrance are figures representing the two seas that surround the country. At the top of the stairs is Italy's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Crowning this is a statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II whose moustache alone measures 3 metres.
Hope you like this one which was also taken at night at around midnight which was a mistake really as there was limited traffic for the light trails. Oh well an excuse to go back lol.

Another cracking shot, Ian, and this building really stands out so well, and can be seen at high vantage points throughout all of Rome. Wonderful work ![]()
