Small boat moored on the river Ouse at York. Taken at night using Nikon D5100 & Tamron 18-270 PZD @140mm, in manual mode - 1s f6 iso200. Using available light Tungsten WB, fine JPEG.
I have only been using digital slr since Nov 2011 and this was my first real night shoot.
As i looked over Lendal Bridge, this illuminated boat caught my eye. I like the contrasty look of the photo, the balance given by the smaller white boat on the right and the feeling that this is all that exists because beyond the boat nothing else can be seen. It's quiet, peaceful with a feeling of solitude (to me anyway).
Some distracting details have been photo-shopped from the background and it has been cropped tighter than shot.
All constructive comments are welcome, as i am keen to develop my photography.
Neil

I would get rid of the boat to the right, get your focus a bit clearer on the boat itself, maybe get rid of the dock and just have a very colourful boat lit up in the darkness, thanks amelia
