...even more London.. and the area between City Hall and the Shard is actually called 'More London'. I hope they're using energy saving light bulbs though! City Hall is the armadillo shaped building on the left. Hms Belfast is not very distinct and the 'red line' is London Bridge. Taken from the cobbled area in front of The Tower, with Tower Bridge just behind me.
Iso 200, f16, 3.2secs, 15mm, tripod and remote release. Let the white balance do its own thing again, straightened and cropped the image a tad, and cloned out a piece of litter and stray leaves.
Many thanks to Valery and Darryl for their UAs on my last Shard, and everyone else for their comments or for just looking in.
Throwing it down in London but the new computer came yesterday and I still haven't got it working so guess what I'll be doing!!
Dave

Another great image Dave. Nice use of the near riverbank to lead the eye into the image and then the bright lights of the bridge to take the eye into the centre of the iamge.
Great shapes and light, superb,
Spot on.
Regards.
Gavin
The composition is excellent. When I worked in both the City and Canary Wharf I was horrified that all the offices had their lights on throughout the night. Latterly they had systems which turned the lights off automatically if nobody was in the office. Anyway - fab image Dave and perfect in all respects!
Ann
Carefully composed as ever, Dave, and as I type Jasmine walked in and said "It's a nice picture" and that is high praise indeed from her. The diagonal divides the image into brighter and more shaded areas, producing a pleasing arrangement of the parts.
Ronnie.
Quote: I find it hard to believe that this is London, Dave, it could be the USA with all those modern buildings
. I certainly wouldn't recognise it if I went back. A well composed capture. Carol
last time I was there was 1999. in St. thomas hospital having my last heart operation, it has changed out of all proportion even in that amount of time. Nice one Dave as always, I would say you are a big achiever with this sort of shot, not seen a bad one yet! like it a lot, regards Leon, stopped raining lol.![]()

One of my favourite bits of London, photographically at least.

Another well-composed and spectacular night photo.
The two cranes with their jibs seemingly pointing at the Shard look like Anti-Aircraft guns . . . ![]()

This made my life hard this morning. I have been through every uploaded image since midnight on Monday, without looking at who took the image before awarding A GEA... this was a simple choice and I knew who the to was because of your individual style Dave. Another cracking image and deserving of the award.
A very lovely night image, Dave, and like how the street light is picking out the benches on the right, adding some extra interest to this dark area ![]()

Another well composed and exposed shot Dave. The light cast onto the bench slats creates interest bottom right nicely.
The Shard standing there like the vertical half of Madonna's pointed bra...no wonder Boris loves the view from his office.![]()
