A male adonis blue butterfly opening his wings to give us a glimpse of his electric blue colour at Swelshill Bank near Stroud. This fine specimen was at ground level hence the busy background and was taken over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Well taken and the background is nicely out of focus, Ed.
Dave
Be careful Arthur he should not be approached when encountered in his natural habitat, he's a real colossus and is feared by even the biggest stags on Exmoor, they steer well clear when he's around!!!![]()

Many thanks for all your comments and clicks, they are much appreciated, Ed
his furry belly comes out a charm, that sky blue shine on the upperside makes me feel all summerly again.
