This was taken last November on a day which was supposed to fine all day. I waited till the rain stopped when I arrived, then ventured out to the monument. After waiting out the next shower in my car, I climbed the path to this viewpoint (the path resembled a gentle stream).
I know the conditions are murky, but I like the brighter patch in the distance, the depth, and the atmosphere in this shot.

Typical scottish weather - well captured here with soft diffuse light creating a understated beauty.
Surely this is what photography is all about - capturing the moment. Wonderful Nigel.

Light, detail, tone, composition, mood, drama, depth, exposure, feeling, murk, colours, they all make it the fine picture we see. Thank you Nige.
And for waiting out the rain, several times, it makes it all the more precious.
You certainly found a good view along the loch, seems to go on forever, and its framed just right by the hills on either side.
It's the mood of the moment - but also a very unusual composition, contrasting the hard, formal lines of the path and tower with the natural shapes of the landscape, and giving a very striking lead-in.

Great focus all the way Nigel, full of mood and atmosphere too, well chosen scene, fine image, Adrian
I can now sympathise with a path that is like a stream after the floods we had. Anyway I liked seeing the big version because of not only the bright areas but just the geology of this valley and the storminess of it.
