Spotted a blue heron with a frog. Watched it manoever the frog until able to swallow it.
My lens was Olympus 70 - 300 at maximum, handheld - I wasn't expecting to see something like this and was looking at flowers at the time! Aperture f8, 1/500 sec, ISO 400. Cropped - heron centred l to r, but in lower half top to bottom so didn't get all of reflection in.
Taken in Florida.

It's a good picture and really sharp. But sadly I think it lacks the full reflection and would have been better with it walking into some instead of the space been at the top. It gives the impression that you missed the picture and not that you managed to capture the picture
He should enter the World Beard and Moustache Championships!
This is an excellent shot in the circumstances and most of the criticism that one could level at it isn't really fair, given that it was basically a grab shot -- the plant stalk is a little unfortunate, for example. I don't think there's a problem with only having part of the reflection, as it's not a very distinct reflection, anyway; I might be inclined to trim a little off the top, though, as there's nothing much going on up there. It could be a little sharper but I suspect that gentle sharpening with unsharp mask will fix most of that. Radius 0.7, clipping 0 would be a good place to start, and then whatever strength crisps it up without creating pixellation and haloes.

Well done, Lynne, a great grab shot. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it.
I like a challenge, so have done a modification with the stalk and its reflection removed. I also cropped the image, adjusted levels and sharpened.
Pamela.
