This is my first attempt to change a photo into a painting using photoshop.
I saw an artical on it and wanted to have a go.
Any useful tips would be greatly welcomed

A good first attempt Buffy, and more importantly, well done for getting out of your comfort zone 
Something worth trying, now you have this image, is to place it as a layer on top of the original, and then adjust the transparency of the layer, so that the original starts showing through. You can then start accentuating parts of the original, together with parts of the painted look.
Nice photo well done. Was the article in Digital Photo as I was reading about this technique in that. Very effective.
