Hi Brad - good attempt - I think you'll find the camera has been fooled into exposing for the light wall and clothing leaving the face a bit underexposed - you could compensate for this in Photoshop using image/adjustments/shadow highlight or - expose close to the face take a reading and then set the camera to manual - or set a reflector to give the face a bit more light Smile

Welcome to the site, and I hope you'll find it as useful as I do. And I wish that I could have done this at 13! I agree with Dave above re exposure - but this is a super composition, I like the way you have positioned your subject, and then concentrated on the eyes and hands. It's a very direct, engaging portrait.

I echo the welcome, Brad. I wish I could do as well now - I'm fine on the theory but absent-minded when push comes to shove....Comes with my great age......Seriously, there is a lot to get to grips with and you have made a fantastic start.
Keep it up!
Best wishes
Bill

Hi brad Welcome to epz. I like the b and w and the pose work well for me. Also the fact that you left some free space to the left kind of puts it together.

If i should give some critiqe i would like to see this shot whit some warm tones. Again welcome to epz
