We saw this King Fisher at iSimangaliso Wetland Park and was intrigued by his beak losing its colour Smile Maybe because of age !
Thanx so much for all who commented and voted on my two landscapes yesterday - much appreciated !! A special thanx to Jeff for his mod - big improvement !
Have a lovely day - here the wind and rain has stopped last night and we are looking ahead to a sunny day with a max of 14 C !

Unmistakably a kingfisher in every way although the plumage is so different to our own native species, Herman.
Those in Australia are also quite different plumaged too.
A nice shot of this one and I wonder too at the cause of the loss of colour in the beak.
Perhaps a wee bit more room on the left side of the frame for it to look into would have been in order.
But a minor quibble but perhaps worth noting if one was thinking of entering it in a competition.
There will be experts on site I'm sure you will know the reason for the anomaly, if that it is, in the beak.
Ronnie.

A pretty bird, and captured well, Herman. I agree, a tad more space in front of him would be beneficial.

Excellent image of this interesting Kingfisher, the pose, head angle and eye contact are all good. If possible, like Ronnie, I would be inclined compositionally to put some space to the left hand side for it to look into, a tighter crop at the tail end than the head end tends to work well for birds in most instances, I find.
