A Painted Lady butterfly... bathing in the sunset... feeding on lavender nectar...
Well detailed and colourful image..
Amazing colours, great shot, lovely detail
Lovely capture! I so cannot wait for warm weather and the return of the butterflies! Such nice detail and I like the way the light is hitting the wings.
A beautiful capture! I can't wait for the bugs and butterflies either!
Lovely shot, great colours and detail.
Lovely light but could the lilac highlights in background be cloned out to avoid any distraction.
Fab shot, lovely detail. Melissa
Stunning close up, the lighting's fantastic. Great capture. Shaun
A beautifully detailed shot, so well lit. Great work.
Very well detailed macro.
A beautiful macro shot, I love the way you've caught the sunlight through its wings and the intricate detail and colours
Just soooo beautiful - the detail light and colours is just brilliant Ina
Superb as always Tim. Really striking colours.
As Slap Head (?!) says maybe do something about that highlight down the left hand side. I think the oof but still recognisable background add interest and give an idea of the fabulous havit you have there for these.
Just a few weeeks now... I can sense it!
Thanks for all your generous comments on this one!
The 'distracting' bits in the background are kind of what attracts me to the shot. I like the blend of colours between the butterfly and it's environment. It's what makes it clear this wasn't taken in a butterfly house... adds life to the shot...
... I prefer the wilder look of the natural backgrounds...
Lovely detailed butterfly....Sandy
Wonderful shot Tim - like you I love the natural environment. Graham
Tim, I agree that the background really does add a lot of interest and sense of natural environment (previous post was meant to say habitat not havit... not sure what my fingers were doing there!) just maybe the highlight down the left hand edge should be dulled down a little as it does draw my eye in a bit. When I go to photo competitions the judges always say that bright highlights near the edges are a no-no and it is much brighter than the other background blooms...
I'd definitely much rather leave it in, just a bit darker, than to crop that bit off the image.
