Another from yesterday morning's expedition in Bedgebury, but I thought the black and white worked well this time. Comments and criticisms are welcome - is that tree just off centre a distraction?
A big thank you to all who voted and who gave their precious UAs - I was overwhelmed by your response and just a little thrilled and excited! Smile PMs have been sent, but another big thank you!
Ann

Following comments by PhilSingleton and WhiteRose1 I've cloned out the offending branch and the version is now visible as v2.

This is a very atmospheric image Ann, with great drama. The only "distraction" I could see is the branch of the "middle tree" in the foreground which sticks up and to the right breaking all the vertical lines of the trees. The branch also has quite a dark tone which makes it more noticeable. This really is only my opinion on what is a fantastic image.

You had wonderful light.
I started off wishing that tree was just a little bit further left of centre. But there's another strong dark trunk in the background just to the left which serves to draw the eye away from the centre rather than towards it. I wouldn't crop, as you would lose the proportions as well as that dark trunk serving as a frame on the side. And I'm guessing that compositional possibilities may have been somewhat limited by the need to keep the actual sun hidden/out of frame while making full use of the rays of light. I do like this a lot - it's subtle, mysterious.

Cracking shot !!!....the magic is still there too !!!....lovely photography !!

I tend to remove the odd weed or blade of grass, if it's distracting !!.....but if that tree bothers you, you'll have to
carry a chainsaw around ??......bit of a squeeze in the old camera bag though !!.Grin

Perhaps a 'toned' version of this lovely shot might be interesting ??.....blue, or gold perhaps ?...just a thought !

V2 is the "cleaner" image, although v1 is quite natural looking.
I don't think the "tree just off center" is a distraction at all. I think it is very well composed.
The mono is just a tad my favorite of the two, but not by much. Lovely scene.
