oil and water shot been done countless times but they are good fun , never really happy with how sharp i get these shots have tried different settings but never seem to get it 100% sharp , have seen examples of shots like this with similar 100mm macro lenses that are much sharper , any tips would be great thanks for taking a look , Kel

I really think you're being too hard on yourself - It's a great shot and certainly looks sharp to me.

With an Aperture of 3.5 on a Macro Shot you're depth of field is absolutely tiny, personally I think you've done really well.

Totally agree with Taff - this is a super sharp shot, the colours are sublime and the oil droplets have a 3D quality to them. I really like it.
