Super title but honestly that 's what it's called .Taken at the back end of last year in late October . These fingers point out into the sea in the general direction of the Farne Islands some of which can be seen on the horizon .The beds of rock that form this distinctive shore scenery are mainly limestone . There are however, coal layers and a dyke of dolerite. The rock pools here at low tide are excellent. Many thanks for all recent clicks and comments All very much appreciated

Excellent image, Phil. You get some big seas up that way too!

A 'dyke of dolerite' sounds good too. Wonderful geology and atmospherics, Phil.

A super capture, Phil, wonderful tones and textures in the rocks....and what a super colourful sky too...![]()

Who would have thought that a place with a name as coarse as Nacker Hole would have a dyke of mafic, holocrystalline, subvolcanic rock equivalent to volcanic basalt or plutonic gabbro?
Great image and very informative commentary.
Wonderful colours in the sky and the rocks Phil ![]()
