The image depicting a frost bitten nail poking its cold weary head out from the equally as cold weatherboards which form a section of roof on my wife's potting shed, was taken just a short while ago. In fact it was the first time that I had a chance of capturing the hard frost that has settled in 2012. The nail reminds me of soldiers during the First World war who would poke their heads above the parapet, before charging into no mans land, and ultimately their fate. This particular soldier managed to thaw out and fight another day.
