I love the ocean. It such a peacful place. The smell, the vastness, the thought that you're standing on the last few feet of solid ground before land and sea merge...that you're standing on the edge of a continent. Pretty cool feeling.
I'm lucky enough to live within a 30 minute drive from the ocean, Santa Cruz California more specifically. Today, as work was winding down I took a look at weather.com and some various coastal Webcams and all in all, conditions looked decent so I headed to the beach. To Natual Bridges.
Natural Bridges is a rock formation, of arches, carved out by the repetition of the sea. It used to be larger, with addition spans but they have collapsed and sucumb to the relentless rythm of the tides...leaving just one remaining. The tide tonight was toward the high end, so I didn't have much opportunity for a large reflection in the retreating water but every other condition...no fog, great sky, nice light...was in place so I decided to see what I could capture.
I've visited this spot many times but tonight was the best I had seen it, though I know as winter grows stronger it will get even better...so I'll have to revisit it again since it's so close to home. So for now, here's capture number one...with more versions to come.
