The dreaded Tynedale Giant Flying Tiger prepares to pounce on three innocently grazing tortoises.
Taken yesterday at our local Kite Festival. This explains why I wasn't online for more than a few minutes all day...
Thanks for looking,
Moira

Let's go and fly a kite...
Up where the...
Now you'll be singing that all day and think of me (that's the tiger speaking not me)

Fabulous shot Moira, such great f=un, I love it ![]()

We (used to?) have the kite festival crowd at New Brighton. I have been for a few years.
You wouldn't know if it's still on because Wirral Council stages these events then doesn't bother to tell anyone.
It must cost a fortune to put them on, surely a few quid more in publicity would be a sound investment?
Nice image. It can be difficult to make something arty from the kites, especially as they are usually way up in the air so you have no background.
Thanks everyone, and a Very Silly Sunday to you! I should add that it took 43 attempts to get this, the wind was so strong and gusty! The owner very kindly moved his picnic chairs out of the way to give me a clear view.
We were lucky with the weather yesterday, the event is continuing today but the sky is pretty grim, I think I may stay indoors.

Reminds me esso when they used to say put a Tiger in your tank now you need a morgage in your tank. good capture Moira well composed very fitting for SS.

I found it a very interesting exercise. I have got a set to upload of an aerobatics demonstration, which was quite photogenic as the kites had long streamers. But generally, the ratio of sky to kites was rather high!
The people running this corner of the ground had a collection of characters that they swapped around, I have another shot to come some time with a clown rearing up over the tortoises. I hadn't come across the little ground-dwelling kites before, there was also a very endearing set of ladybirds. They are anchored down and rely on there being sufficient breeze at ground level to keep them inflated.

That's no tiger, Moira, that's Tigger "doing what Tiggers do best" - bouncing.
Malc
Malc, we had an ex-army V8 Land Rover years ago that we called Tigger. For the same reason.

Brilliant! Makes a great Silly Sunday shot, Moira! ![]()

You did extremely well, Moira, and have produced a very amusing image. Those tortoises do look sad, though.

Pamela, I think anyone who has to be inflated from the rear end is entitled to look dischuffed!
Thanks everyone. I've been back again today but there's much less happening and the sky is rubbish. Did get a string of fish kites though.
Rust tomorrow I think, back to normality.

A very colourful fun shot for a Silly Sunday, this one made me smile
Love it and the way you have captured the feel off the day, an excellent shot well composed with good colours
Nature in the raw, savage, but life as it is in the great wide world...........must keep taking the pills. Steve
