Looking out in a south-easterly direction from Neuschwanstein Castle you can see Marienbrücke (Mary's Bridge), some 250 metres away as the crow flies, which spans the large Pöllat Gorge, with a waterfall nearly 100 metres below it. It was from this bridge that King Ludwig II admired his dream castle, and it's well worth the twenty minute walk along the winding path to get this splendid view of the 'fairy tale' castle. Both shots were taken from the bridge, with V2 showing a wider view.
The palace has appeared prominently in several movies, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and was the inspiration for Disneyland's Sleeping Beauty Castle.
As mentioned in my previous upload, you can't take photos inside, but this link has an excellent range of images, showing just how beautiful the interior is.

Single Raw images processed in Adobe Camera Raw 7, tweaked in Photomatix Pro 4 and Photoshop Elements 11.

Thanks again to everyone for your votes & comments on my previous uploads, it really is appreciated and encouraging.

Great write up Trev, clicked on the link and what a place, mind you we have some Council Houses in Wales like this, like both versions and agree a fairy tale castle.

Regards

Trev.

Two beautiful captures of this rather hauntingly beautiful Fairy Tale Castle. For me the longer image adds much to the fantasy and the tales in my mind. "Maybe a mono conversion?"

Very well worked as always Trev

A beautiful view, Trev, the snow makes it almost monotone.

Thanks for sharing this and the link. Such opulence. It is difficult for me to imagine the wealth and man hours that went into this.

Two impressive black-and-whites that really evoke the atmosphere of Snow White, Rapunzel, the Sleeping Beauty and so on - the icing-sugar versions, I mean; the original tales were rather darker. Great use of a fabuloud pov.

Two excellent images here. Such a massive castle. I wonder how many square feet this castle is. It would be wonderful to take a tour through it. Looks lovely in winter with the surrounding snow. Really great shots Trev.......Sandy

A most impressive castle, Trev, and captured from a fine viewpoint: one of King Ludwig's great contributions to the architectural heritage of Bavaria.

Ooh, I remember going there. Like a fairy tale. It's amazing how they build these wonderful structures in such impossible places. I have to prefer V2 today because we see more of the tricky terrain.
