As a change from butterflies.....flowers.
2 versions, V1 is my favourite.
This plant's tough sword-shaped leaves grow up to 3m tall, and the rigid flower stalk can grow up to 5m long, towering high above the foliage. The flowers grow in curving tube-like clumps, turning bright red when mature, and produce unusually high quantities of nectar. This accounts for the numerous bees I found visiting the flowers.
The Maoris use its economic fibres to make clothing, baskets, mats, fishing nets, rope, bags, sandals, rigging, roofing, torches and rafts.
Pamela.

I waited for V2 to appear - I like its simplicity but I think I do prefer V1, for the twisting, turning curves. Wonderful textures, really tactile.

For some reason I am only able to visualise V 1, Pamela, and it is a plant with which I am totally unfamiliar although I have heard of it by name: quite an interesting structure it has too, and you have captured this shot of it in fine detail and presented it so nicely.

Judging from the stalk, that is one robust plant, Pamela.
I too go for v1, it seems more natural an image in all respects for some reason.

Oh...my...word.

Both of these are incredible in detail, depth and colour, Pamela. The backgrounds could not be more perfect too.

Shortlisted in a flash. V1 is one of the most beautiful and interesting floral images I have seen on this site.

Today's a good day to be on EPZ...because of this upload Smile
