Perfectly named, he reminds me of St Nicholas, Europe's pre-Coca-Cola version of Father Christmas.

A portrait which is not only so very wonderfully captured, but seems to radiate not only a presence but a rather friendly and welcoming aura.

Regards Nathan

Wonderful b&w conversion and composition. The character and percieved wisdom of this gentleman is fantastic.

From a technical point of view, this portrait has a great deal to offer by hinging itself on background and foreground. The mass of hair is counterbalanced by the richness of the background while the focus on the eyes yields an almost surreal atmosphere to the portrait. Time at a standstill. Well done!

Fantastic portrait.....I love the old Father Christmas. He is so much more believable. The texture in his beard is remarkable.

You wont need your chimney swept for a while Danny,
when he comes down it with that beard !!
More hairs here than that burst mattress I saw at the docks recently !!
Good shot.

Ah, what a magical face to be privileged to photograph, Dan. This is superb.

I do find myself wondering how many birds are nesting hidden away in that tangled beard, though.Wink
Keep up the experiments on new things, they are so far working extremely well for you.
