Hi everyone.
Im new to the site and this is my very first picture uploaded here. The lights and reflextion of it on the water was what attracted me to this shot. Camera is a very low budget camera - so quality is not of the best. What im looking for mostly is your thoughts on the subject chosen, angle, colours ect.
Thanks in advance for any tips & comments provided.
Looking forward to post some more later . . .

Hi
I think the subject is good and the colours and post production are also very good.
Maybe try a lower angle to give the building and water more prominence?
however the smooth tones of the sky also work well...so maybe not. Smile
I would question why you composed in a way to leave the back of the boat in frame as it feels a little pointless.
Also maybe waiting for high or low tide to help produce a more glassy effect in the water would help.

Many Regards
Steve

Steve - thanks for the in depth insight - as for the boat - don't really know. At the time I thought would add somthing extra because maybe would be little bit "empty" - but good point. As for the angle, believe it or not, that was the lowest I could get.

Brian, I registered on the site a very long time ago but ended up never using it, because of different factors - still remebered my login details after all that time.

Thank you Diane for your kind words Smile

Welcome to EPZ as this is your first upload. I like the lights and reflection but there is a lot of dead space in the image and the boat is distracting and adds very little to the image. I like the smotth tones of the sky which are nice and even and makes the detail of the building reaaly stand out. I would have re-composed by walking to the left if it was possible. Also a more panoramic letterbox box crop would have concentrated the attention on the lights and reflection while keeping the lights on the pier in view.

Very nice shot though

Ian

Thank you Ian for your comments, exactly what I was looking for - some constructive tips on improving. Ok at the time I thought the boat would be a nice idea, but reading all the comments, now not so much Tongue
