Beautiful. The plaid is unusual.

A long way North from OZ1

Its a good shot Mark. I like the diagonal composition, and the model does look in tune with the camera. The mon conversion looks good

Its just a little underexposed. Check you LCD after the shot, and look at the shot in Histogram view, and you will see rith away thats its under, Then eithe move the light closer, or turn up poer if you can, or open the aperture, then re take, and check again.

Theres a few stray hairs in the camera right eye, - minor, but they can be cleaned up; the Octobox reflection looks quite large, - not a whole lot you can do except reduce the size in posy processing, it can improve the appearance of the eyes.

Ive uploaded a mod to show what I mean and cropped to A4 aspect ratio.

Hope this helps,

Regards

Willie

Thanks Willie, I do seem to have a problen under exposing.
Other than that I was pretty happy with the composition and pose!!

May I ask what you edited it with?

It is, indeed, slightly under, but your histogram will tell you that. Nice portrait but I find myself looking at the very dominant pair of hands. An old, and much maligned judging comment was ' whoose hands are those'. They are obviously hers but also so obviously posed. I would have had just the top hand, then cropped in much closer to the face. Top, bottom, bit off both sides.

It is the eyes that matter ad they are quite small in the frame here.

I've tried a mod. Histogram does say a lot of under exposure. Not tried to remove second hand and looks more natural with a heavy crop. Image now a bit small.

Paul.

This is a lovely image of an attractive woman.
However to be picky the hands dominate the image. They also set up a diagonal which does not really lead to the face. Not that I'm suggesting portrait faces need a lead in.
I like Paul's crop and wonder if an even tighter crop might bring more attention to her face.

Ian

I used Photoshop CS6, and the Threshold and Curves adjustments.

It can be done with the levels adjustment too, open it and drage the right slidet to the left untill it touches the histogram graph.

Not enough light is addressed by either increasing the poer of the light; moving it closer to the model; or using say f/5.6 here rather than f/8

I like the closer crop in Pauls mod also. Uploaded a similar mod and framed to retain sharpness.

regards

Willie
