Another pool ‘rescue’, but not really a rescue, as this fella ended up under my foot! There aren’t many critters that I would rather see dead than alive, but I have to admit that a scorpion is one of them. Not large, a little bigger than my thumb-nail, but he can still give quite a bite, and this fella wasn’t being given the opportunity! He wasn’t too happy at having his picture taken, either, he was determined to advance down the stick to my hand, so it was a case of taking a couple of very quick images, and then a swift disposal!

Hi Carol! Hope you kept your fingers well away from him! We have those (yellow and brown)scorpions in Portugal and I remember my mums dog was stung by on of them... He was in terrible pain for 24hrs (poor thing) even medicated by the vet... The one in your shots looks quite nasty. You were brave dangling your camera close to it... Good images though...

Excellent images of this fearsome beastie. I haven't seen them in Spain but if they're in Portugal, I guess we have them there too.
I'm glad I live in northerly climes, we don't get these little stingers. Very good shots Carol but sooner you than me......
Andy
Blimey! tricky little customer, well done for getting such great shots
Hi Carol, for me it is V1 today. And as usual, this one is fantastic.. U were quite close to take a good shot.. excellent..
samar.
he is kinda scarey looking ...
dont thinkI would be taking his photo.
An excellent close-up Carol but I can't help feeling sorry for it.
Phil.
Amazing captures, Carol, and I can't believe how small this guy is! By the way, my new toy isn't suited for macro and sure ain't gonna come anywhere close to this. I'll be turning to my A430 and A630 for close-ups. Which is fine, 'cos I still love my compacts ![]()

Nasty looking creature Carol but captured very well indeed, lovely detail,
Geoff.
WOW a fantastic subject...would love to have a play with him.....I know what you was going through with him trying to get up the stick to you.I had a wasp doing the same last year...no matter how I held the stick he always headed towards ME.
Can't believe he was so small.
Nice captures.

He's certainly got his beady eyes on you, Carol!
You're very brave capturing this little critter, and deserve a vote just for getting this close! ![]()

I know it's sting. May be I hate them so much. You are brave & kind person to bring out it's beauty.
Two cracking close up captures Carol, it's a toss up between you and Bun for who is the bravest when photographing bugs
One more for the collection, Carol. Super shots. Believe it or not they do occur in parts of Britain. Fascinating-looking when really close up.
Dave.
Two good images Carol but a bit too much sharpening.
Regards
Trev.
