Quick grab-shot in the garden with the 50/200+ EC20....This bird was so small...So very small and flighty, spooked so quick, this is not as sharp as I would have liked was shot on sports mode.
The normal size is more like the print, is a nice print too.
Quick upload before midnight so I can put up another later.
Chen.

Beautiful capture of this juvenile Kingfisher with artistic composition in the image frame. Here, I think 'slightly more room around the bird,' would project, somewhat, better, because, as You have said and appreciated, there is some lack of optimal feather details. In conjunction with this, there are some bright white feather highlights in the image, which lack detail & definition, & which we could call 'slightly blown.' However, I think You can salvage this image with a 'curves adjustment,' and some 'mild application of a sharpening tool'(not too much). I feel that, if the correct brightness & contrast adjustments are made, along with mild sharpening,...some of the underlying details can be brought out. If the image was captured in RAW, of course, we would have much more digital information to work with. A 'looser crop'(if you have good bg real estate), with optimal position of the Kingfisher in 'a thirds sweet spot,' would further enhance this image, IMHO. Good Luck.

Hi Peter thanks for the long chat over my humble little bird shot, that was really pushing the limits of my present kit, perhaps the E5...or the E6 in the future, will get a sharper shot of a small bird such as this, I don't think that the E620 is a good enough camera to get these shots like the 7D Canons can, but he was really just too small though was quite close, about 20 meters away, will pick larger subjects I think....TTFN Chen.
Just a point and shoot through the EC20 on sports mode Willie, cam does the rest...I am getting away from sports mode though, and just waiting for the rollercoaster to roll again for my facial expressions close ups, wont be long now, and sure that they will take practice to get right.
I have the kit now, relative to my income...just hope that I can make the time, just wish that you could come over and shoot them with me for guidance...Chen.
