I don't think so. If it was toooooo bright and the light was coming straight from in front her face may had no shadows at all.

It looks like a nice spontaneous laughter and I don't think you should have lose your sleep over it.

I can't make sense of exif data, in a lens of max aperture 1.4 it has a value of 0.0? why did you use ISO 1600? The frame of her glasses shows signs of light, and shadow in her forehead shows light source from above... The place looks like a public space with constant lighting. Did you shoot it in colour? Unless these settings were set by the camera, I can't make my mind how this was taken and how at the time she smiled you could have done differently or better.

I am sure that the after-capture troops will come up with something. I would say let her live in peace Smile

I wouldn't say that her face is too bright although her white (?) headscarf is blown out.
My first impression was that the image is rather soft and could also do with some added contrast.
For some reason (which is beyond me) it looks sharper in PS than it does here.
I've made an adjustment using curves to increase the contrast slightly and despite the apparent difference in sharpness, I've sharpened it slightly as well.
I also cloned out the reflections on her glasses as best I could.
Finally, I gave it an 8x10 crop which may or may not be an improvement but it does mean that you concentrate more on her face.
I'd be interested to know how you converted this to mono?
Hope this helps.

Bren.

Edit; the large version of the mod. looks better than the standard one and in being uploaded to here, the added sharpness seems to have evaporated. It's not the first time that I've had that happen.
Also, I've just noticed that I've missed at least one reflection on her glasses. What I'd intended to do was to leave matching catchlights, one at the top of each eye.

A question about the Nikor lens on the Canon. Is it a manual focus lens or AF? Does the adapter allow full metering?

The exif is wrong as the camera is not getting information from the lens, so were missing someting.

The shot doesnt look bright on the face, but as said above, its very much blown on the headdress, so I have to assume its bright overall, and have adjusted as such in the mod, - similar to Brens mod, with a similar crop.

regards

Willie

i converted it to mono with black and white color in PS

@banehawi
it's manual focus. yes, the adapter allow full metering.
i think because of im using nikkor lens, the exif can't get the data.

thx for the mod.

Thanks Ade,
Did you just use the 'greyscale' button or did you convert it using the channel mixer?
I just ask because the channel mixer approach will give you much more control over the final effect.

Thanks again, Ade.
Good to hear that.
The channel mixer's certainly the way to go. It just takes some practice.
Cheers,
Bren.
